Seniors'Best - It's more than you think
Thomas Hospital Seniors'Best is a free membership-based program for adults 55 and over designed to address the specific healthcare and lifestyle needs of the senior population.
From blood sugar screenings to monthly Lunch and Learn programs, seniors will find that Seniors'Best offers a wide variety of resources including education, hospital discounts and benefits, local retail benefits, and prescription drug discounts.
"We've designed this program so that it covers a wide range of healthcare issues," Bonnie McNiel, program manager said. "When you are talking about someone who is 55 and someone who is 85, their healthcare needs can be vastly different from each other. However, we have so many resources in both our hospital staff and our medical staff, which I believe can address those needs so that everyone gets something from the program."
The cornerstone of Seniors'Best is the health and wellness education. Opportunities include the monthly Lunch and Learn programs, AARP Driving Course, preventative health screenings, information and referral services, support groups, healthy eating classes, and travel programs.
Hospital benefits include free meal tickets, Health and Fitness Center discounts, gift shop discount, Heart Check discount, free assessment with a mental health counselor from The Harbor, and a daytime sleepiness evaluation and tour of Sleep Services.
Exclusive benefits are a prescription drug discount program with independent pharmacies throughout Baldwin County, a travel program with Springdale Travel, discounts on respite care and home health equipment, notary service, monthly screenings, and the annual Seniors'Best Cruise to Good Health.
Seniors'Best members also have access to the Thomas Hospital Health Resource Center, a consumer health library. Although the Resource Center is open to the general public, Seniors'Best members can enjoy special benefits such as free copying and fax services.
