About Your Stay

What to Bring to the Hospital
If you are being admitted to the hospital for an overnight stay you will want to bring these items:

  • Clothing
Pajamas or gowns (the hospital also provides gowns), robe, slippers and socks. Maternity patients should also bring a going home outfit for their infants: undershirt, socks or booties, sleeper, extra diaper and receiving blanket. Electrical appliances (such as hair dryer) may be used with the permission of our Plant Operations Department and your signature on a release of responsibility form.

  • Toilet Articles
Toothpaste, toothbrush, comb, brush, deodorant, shaving articles, tissues, personal toilet articles, lip balm, lotion and powder. The hospital stocks the above items. They will be charged to your bill if you request them.

  • Medications
Bring a list of medications you are currently taking. If it is necessary that you bring medications to the hospital with you, please advise your nurse.

  • Valuables
We encourage you to leave all valuables at home, including jewelry, cash, credit cards, cell phones, and check-book. If you arrive at the hospital with valuables, please send them home with a family member. Otherwise, we will lock them in the hospital for safekeeping. Please remember that the hospital is not responsible for your valuables, eyeglasses, dentures or other personal items. Upon discharge, present your receipt to reclaim possessions.

Meals
Patients will receive a daily menu or meals will be prepared in accordance with the specific diet ordered by your physician. If your physician orders a special diet for you, our clinical dietitian may visit you to discuss the diet. If you would like to meet with the dietitian, please notify your nurse.

Meals from Home
Occasionally, patients may want a visitor to bring them a special food item from home. In that case, the visitor must get a permission slip from the patient's physician or nurse stating that it is okay for the patient to have food brought in.

Televisions / Telephones

Televisions and telephones are provided free of charge in each room. Most rooms are also equipped with VCRs. Family and friends may dial your room directly by dialing 990-1 your room number. TDD for hearing impaired patients and closed caption TV is also available.
