2009 Grand Summer Ball is a Grand Success
"Breathtaking" is the only word that aptly describes the 23rd Grand Summer Ball held at the Grand Hotel on August 22, 2009. From the gorgeous, oversized flowers lining the walkway and a towering white lacquered tree in the foyer to the massive peacock with its flowing plumage and an orchard of cherry trees creating a canopy over the ballroom, the decor transformed a summer night on the bay into an evening of enchantment.
Chairperson Mena Morgan originally had a vision of the evening. She enlisted co-chairs Suzy Radcliff and Sadie Cooper, along with design chair Stephanie Easterling, to bring her ideas to life.
Because of the community support, the Thomas Hospital Foundation netted more than $180,000. The proceeds will go toward establishing a third catheterization lab dedicated to studying/treating cardiac electrophysiology, or the electrical activities of the heart.
This year's Grand Summer Ball was dedicated to "firsts" - those who had the foresight and fortitude to first begin the good work of Thomas Hospital almost 50 years ago. Now proudly a part of Infirmary Health System, Thomas Hospital continues to grow and offer state-of-the-art healthcare close to home.
