The Perfect Addition: One to Grow On
Nature creates the ideal setting for the development of your baby, similar to the environment Thomas Hospital has created in The Birth Center.

It's a home-like atmosphere, beautifully designed with your well being in mind. We recommend your pre-natal experience begin with our "Moving Through Labor" childbirth classes to guide you and your birth partner through each step of your pregnancy. Access to our Childbirth Education Center will give you additional information on motherhood and childcare.

To prepare you physically for pregnancy, we offer free membership to our Fit PG program, which includes pre-natal aerobics. Proper nutrition is also an important part of your early pregnancy. Whether it's concerns over weight gain, food allergies, or morning sickness, our Nutritional Counseling Program will help you balance your diet for optimum wellness.

More Than You Expected: The Birth Center Staff
Just as every good mother is familiar with all aspects of childcare, so is our maternity staff. And each staff member understands the importance of personal attention during your birth experience, to reassure you and guide you through the months ahead.

As you spend time with us throughout your pregnancy, our staff will work to establish a one-on-one relationship with you. Because when the day comes, we want you to feel at home with all the members of your birthing team. From performing an ultrasound to comforting you through labor, members of the Thomas Hospital staff have one focus - to make your delivery a positive experience.

Take a Deep Breath: A Labor of Love
Nine months of anticipation have brought you to this day. After being admitted, we'll place you in one of our four Labor, Delivery and Recovery (LDR) Rooms, just footsteps away from the nurses' stations. Featuring a home-like atmosphere, these spacious rooms comfortably accommodate all necessary hospital staff and visitors.

With beautiful furnishings, warm color schemes, a recliner, a large screen television a VCR in each LDR room, we have created a non-clinical atmosphere for the arrival of your child. Not only are these rooms soothing to the eye, but they are equipped with all the necessary state-of-the-art medical equipment you'll need for a safe delivery, including a dedicated C-section room. So from the first contraction to the birth, everything you require will remain close at hand.

First Impressions: The Nursery
At Thomas Hospital, we believe every baby deserves to be the center of attention. That's why our newborn nursery is the focal point of the Birth Center. From the moment you enter the doors, you'll see our new arrivals and be greeted by a cheerful beach mural.

When it comes to caring for your child, Thomas Hospital makes security a priority. Every baby is monitored by an electronic tracking device. And to safeguard your newborn's health, each member of the nursery staff is certified in Newborn Advanced Life Support.

We also understand that mothers have difference needs. That's why we offer the option of either keeping your baby in your room with you, or allowing your baby to remain in the nursery. No matter where baby stays, our nursery staff will ensure you both get the best of care and personal attention.

Getting Settled: Your Homecoming
The time has come for everyone to return home and for your new family routine to begin. But Thomas Hospital 's involvement does not end when you leave The Birth Center. After you've arrived at home, expect a follow-up call from a knowledgeable member of your nursing staff who will be ready to answer any questions about your baby's care or well being, or address any concerns about your own recovery.
