The Thomas Hospital Auxiliary seeks students to participate in a junior volunteer program each summer. This program is available to local high school students, ages 14 to 18, who maintain a B grade average and have an interest in volunteering at Thomas Hospital.
The eight-week program provides service to the hospital, increases community understanding and interest in the hospital, and furthers interest in health careers.
Participants attend an orientation class, complete a mandatory health screening (including a TB test and drug/alcohol screening) and volunteer four hours per week for a total of 24 volunteer hours.
The 2011 summer program continues June 6 -July 29. Applications are due to the Thomas Hospital Auxiliary office by April 27. An interest meeting for students and their parents is held May 10.
Applications are available in the Thomas Hospital Auxiliary office, from school counselors at high schools in Baldwin County or by contacting Melita Willkie, 251-279-5525 or Melita.willkie@infirmaryhealth.org. Applications are also available for download here.
