Spring Fever Chase

The annual Spring Fever Chase welcomes the arrival of spring to coastal Alabama with a 10K race and 2-mile fun run/walk along the bay and scenic neighborhoods of Fairhope. Now in its 35th year, the race is one of the most popular in the region.

Held in conjunction with the annual Fairhope Arts and Crafts Festival, it draws nearly 3,000 serious and not-so-serious runners. Runners compete in 14 different age categories for males and females, as well as race walking and wheelchair divisions.

Sponsored by Infirmary Health and Wells Fargo, the race benefits the schools of Baldwin County as well as Operation FitKids, a program offered by Thomas Fitness Center to combat childhood obesity.

Congratulations to Fairhope High School graduate Ashley Mitchell for winning the Spring Fever Chase art award for 2013. Ashley was a student in Ms. Lynda Williams art class when she submitted her drawing for this year’s contest. Each year submissions are taken for the t-shirt design and an award is presented to both the teacher’s art program and to the winning student.
